Stonehenge and Mayfield Lavender Field – England Day 10

We were up and ready for the day pretty early. Once we were downstairs we met the other person that was staying at the AirBnB. Meeting new and interesting people is one of the best things about using AirBnB while traveling. Food Instead of grabbing toast at the house we decided to just leave to get something while on the road to Stonehenge. I know I have been listing where we had our meals during the day, but I honestly have NO idea what we had for breakfast. Best guess would that we had something at one of the service …

Cardiff and The Doctor Who Experience – England and Wales Day 9

After talking with our AirBnB host, Mike, we decided to leave early in the morning to try and avoid the morning rush hour around Manchester. We quietly got up and ready for the day. Mike was already up and walked us out to the car. Since it was early and we wanted to get on the road we waited a bit for breakfast. Breakfast We grabbed breakfast at a service station. It was the first time I saw a McDonald’s in the UK. Normally, I’m not a big fan of McDonald’s but the bacon roll sound yummy to me. It …

Hadrian’s Wall And Manchester – Scotland and England Day 8

We started the day early, well before our AirBnB host was awake. Leaving the house as quietly as possible and dropping the keys back through the mail slot. A quick look at Yelp showed that there were only a couple of places open at that time. So we headed to the one that was on our way. Since I can’t seem to get through a post without mentioning this, be aware that convenience does not exist in the same way as the US. In fact, I think I could get used to living a bit of a slower life like …

Glen Coe And Glasgow – Scotland Day 7

We were sad to leave Skye and could have spent several more days there. Lesson learned, slow travel is better than trying to cram multiple locations into one trip. Breakfast After getting ready for the day we headed out to see what we could find for breakfast. The only place we could find was Cafe Sia. This is one of the few places that I have/had mixed reviews about. If you look at Yelp they have incredible reviews. Our experience wasn’t as great. The location itself was beautiful, especially the decor. The room was bright and filling with local photography. …

Loch Ness and Isle of Skye – Scotland Day 6

We woke up excited for the day and to head off to the Isle of Skye. Breakfast After getting ready we headed into the dining room at our AirBnB. Ethna had already set out coffee, tea, and bread. One of the perks of staying here was a cooked breakfast. She then brought out porridge and a baked grapefruit. I had always wondered what the difference between oatmeal and porridge were, honestly, I couldn’t tell much of a difference. This was the first time I had a baked grapefruit and to my surprise, it was quite nice. By this time I …

Dunnottar Castle and Inverness – Scotland Day 5

We woke up early in the beautiful Dean Village of Edinburgh. Needing to make our way to Waverley Station to pick-up our rental car. Walking through Edinburgh, along Princes Street and a quick stop in Prince Street Gardens. The Scott Monument looked gorgeous with the rising sun. Waverley Station Finally making it to the train stations, it was like taking a step back in time. The station was beautiful and luckily for us, there was a Caffe Nero next the the EuropCar. I got a White Chocolate Mocha Latte and a raspberry muffin. Dunnottar Castle Finally time to go to …
