New York Trip & My First Trade Show

It’s been almost a month since Blueprint…how is that even possible?! Since then I’ve been working on going through my portfolio and uploading new designs on to places like Zazzle and Society 6. The trip was great and my sister & I learn a lot about exhibiting at trade shows. Next week I’m posting a video and blog on preparing for your first art licensing trade show. New York Here We Come The drive up to NJ was pretty uneventful. I didn’t have to drive so I was able to sit in the backseat and snuggle with Willow. Isn’t she …

Licensing Deal, Blueprint, and More

Wow, it’s been so long since I’ve updated you guys on what’s been going on with me. Earlier this year I made the decision to step back a bit from the blog. Things were super busy with work and preparing for the (fast-approaching) trade show. Recently some things have changed in my life and will now make it much easier to keep this site up-to-date. I’m looking forward to being able to spend some more time on here. 🙂 Anyways, here’s a quick look at what’s been going on for the past couple of months. My First Licensing Deal!! (yay!) …

Join Me On The 100 Day Challenge

Last year I participated in the 100-day project and created a new pattern every day, for 100 days. Those 100 days were a really great experience and I learned a lot about my own design skills & style. It was during this time that my confidence grew enough to start teaching and it was also the beginning of me really starting to figure out my own design style. So, let me ask you a question. Are there any design skills that you want to improve? Come on, I know there is at least one thing you can come up with. …

While we can all agree there was a lot of crappy things that happened in 2016 – I’m going to think back on all of the positives that happened in my life. A quick review of all the good bits and my goals for 2017: Adventures Maryland: Eric’s family is from the Maryland/D.C. area and last year we decided to go up for Easter weekend. We spent …

New Pillows Available – Limited Time Only

Wraptious is a fantastic company based in the U.K.. Every year they run a couple different competitions in order to find new artists. This year I entered the fall competition and entered three designs as a new collection. These have been on the website for a while and I’m not sure how much longer they’ll be available to purchase. The second competition I enter was for Make It In Design, as part of a live brief in Module 3. This brief was a bit tricky as I could only use 3 colors and the theme was natural world. These two …

Surtex and The National Stationery Show 2016

This past May both my sister and I attended NSS and Surtex. It was such an awesome experience and one I would recommend to anyone that is considering showing at either of the shows in the future. A few months prior to the shows I contacted one of the sales reps to see if we could get passes for the shows since we were considering showing next year. He was more than happy to give us a pass for the day. This was a HUGE help because neither of us could afford to pay $500 on top of the other …
