Hadrian’s Wall And Manchester – Scotland and England Day 8

We started the day early, well before our AirBnB host was awake. Leaving the house as quietly as possible and dropping the keys back through the mail slot. A quick look at Yelp showed that there were only a couple of places open at that time. So we headed to the one that was on our way. Since I can’t seem to get through a post without mentioning this, be aware that convenience does not exist in the same way as the US. In fact, I think I could get used to living a bit of a slower life like …

Glen Coe And Glasgow – Scotland Day 7

We were sad to leave Skye and could have spent several more days there. Lesson learned, slow travel is better than trying to cram multiple locations into one trip. Breakfast After getting ready for the day we headed out to see what we could find for breakfast. The only place we could find was Cafe Sia. This is one of the few places that I have/had mixed reviews about. If you look at Yelp they have incredible reviews. Our experience wasn’t as great. The location itself was beautiful, especially the decor. The room was bright and filling with local photography. …

Loch Ness and Isle of Skye – Scotland Day 6

We woke up excited for the day and to head off to the Isle of Skye. Breakfast After getting ready we headed into the dining room at our AirBnB. Ethna had already set out coffee, tea, and bread. One of the perks of staying here was a cooked breakfast. She then brought out porridge and a baked grapefruit. I had always wondered what the difference between oatmeal and porridge were, honestly, I couldn’t tell much of a difference. This was the first time I had a baked grapefruit and to my surprise, it was quite nice. By this time I …

Dunnottar Castle and Inverness – Scotland Day 5

We woke up early in the beautiful Dean Village of Edinburgh. Needing to make our way to Waverley Station to pick-up our rental car. Walking through Edinburgh, along Princes Street and a quick stop in Prince Street Gardens. The Scott Monument looked gorgeous with the rising sun. Waverley Station Finally making it to the train stations, it was like taking a step back in time. The station was beautiful and luckily for us, there was a Caffe Nero next the the EuropCar. I got a White Chocolate Mocha Latte and a raspberry muffin. Dunnottar Castle Finally time to go to …

Shannon Airport and Edinburgh – Ireland and Scotland Day 4

So if you read the last post you’ll know that we were basically out of gas from the night before. We were rushing off to the airport to catch a flight to Edinburgh, Scotland. Patrick, the AirBnB host, offered to drive behind us just in case we did run out of gas on the way. He wasn’t awake yet and we decided to just take a chance and go for it. We found a gas station on google maps. Our fingers were crossed that we’d actually make it there as it was over 15km away. Cows Not even half a …

Blarney Castle and Cliffs of Moher – Ireland Day 3

I’m finally back at the Ireland and U.K. trip posts! Hopefully, I’ll have them all posted within the next month. The AirBnB (read more about it here) included breakfast. Our host had a spread of yogurt, toast, fruit, etc. There was a German couple staying in the other room of the AirBnB. We were able to enjoy a great conversation over breakfast with them. They’ve been to Ireland several times and seemed to really enjoy it. We were off to Blarney Castle and Cliffs of Moher. They were on their way to Ring of Kerry and that area. He, I don’t …

New York Trip & My First Trade Show

It’s been almost a month since Blueprint…how is that even possible?! Since then I’ve been working on going through my portfolio and uploading new designs on to places like Zazzle and Society 6. The trip was great and my sister & I learn a lot about exhibiting at trade shows. Next week I’m posting a video and blog on preparing for your first art licensing trade show. New York Here We Come The drive up to NJ was pretty uneventful. I didn’t have to drive so I was able to sit in the backseat and snuggle with Willow. Isn’t she …

Wicklow Mountains and Cork – Ireland Day 2

Day 1 | More on the full trip Morning Walk Eric and I woke up early so that we could walk to the car rental office and grab breakfast on the way. Most places don’t open until 8:30 am or later. At least that’s what kept showing while searching Yelp. So we just decided to go out and we’d find a place while walking around Dublin. Breakfast We took the tram (Luas) from Fatima station to Jervis station. And we only ended up walking a couple of blocks when we found Mochaland Cafe. They had a sign outside advertising a …

Chinese Lantern Festival (Pictures)

Each year the Koka Booth Amphitheater in Cary, NC hosts the Chinese Lantern Festival. It’s something that my mom has wanted to attend for the last couple of years. This year we all happened to be in the the same location when the festival was going on. The main entrance is a large silk LED-lit feature that looks like Chinese Palace or Gong. The colors were absolutely gorgeous and pictures do not do it justice! My plan was to film it all with my GoPro, which I did, and then post a video. I now know that I have a …

Christmas 2016 – Raleigh, NJ and Asheville

Hope you all had a wonderful holiday season! As always, we were quite busy traveling to spend the holidays with our family. Christmas #1 This year we spent the weekend before Christmas with my family. We drove up to the Raleigh area the weekend before Christmas, so that we could enjoy the weekend with everyone. Saturday was busy making a big dinner with my mom and sister. It took most of the day to cook everything, but was totally worth it. After the delicious meal we sat down to exchange Christmas presents. Watching my niece and nephew open presents is …
